Jacob gives us a glimpse of what it was like for a couple of city 'hippies' who were determined to survive and flourish in a very unfamiliar and demanding environment.

Armed with bundles of how-to books and little experience, these 'back-to-the-landers' struggled to learn how to survive. They found chickens that didn't lay eggs, a goat that it was almost impossible to milk, and a horse that avoided work. They got a wind powered generator after they built a geodesic dome with no power. They cleared land for gardens and fields and survived to move onto the next adventure.

"Jacob's Tails . . ." is a collection of stories with over 50 photos highlighting the seven years Jacob spent with his humans, Lynne and Fred, in the middle of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
